FirecraftMiniatures......a very mini history

I have always liked making things from an early age, my mother was very creative and always encouraged me and my siblings to draw and paint and try different crafts out and also having a brilliant art & crafts teacher at school helped keep the creative juices flowing. Like all boys of the seventies I was very keen on the Airfix plastic kit models and had a vast collection of boats, tanks and trucks that I would spend hours making and painting to make as realistic as possible, pocket money well spent I always thought !

That in turn developed into making scenery and buildings for the models which helped sharpen my skills in using all sorts of bits and bobs to help create miniature scenes with.

My interest in Dolls Houses did not really start until 2010 when I was asked if I could make a dolls house for a friends daughter and everything just seemed to snowball from there. First I made one, then another which sold on Ebay, after a few more sales I then got into trying to make more realistic dolls houses but that became to labour intensive and time consuming so then I decided to have a go at creating room boxes as they were smaller. I now tend to specialise in dolls house fireplaces which I think suits my style of craftmanship better.

Everything I make is done in my spare time so I can only make and sell items to order
